Opening of the 2024 Festival for Peace in Quang Tri Province
This year, the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) has selected Georgia as the host country to organize the main events and activities on World Tourism Day 2024 and has clearly stated the theme of World Tourism Day 2024 as “Tourism and Peace”. UNWTO has emphasized the important role of tourism in promoting peace and understanding between countries and cultures. Accordingly, it emphasizes the potential of tourism in supporting reconciliation processes and contributing to building the foundations of peace such as social justice, human rights, economic equity and sustainable development. According to the statement of the United Nations Tourism Organization, the greatest strength of tourism, in addition to being an economic driver, is that it brings people together. This can promote peace through cultural exchange, understanding and mutual respect between countries and territories.
Activities on World Tourism Day aim to find ways to address global challenges outlined in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and affirm the contribution of Tourism to achieving the United Nations' sustainable development goals./.
