Speaking at the ceremony, Hai Lang District Party Secretary Nguyen Khanh Vu said: Exactly 50 years ago, in the atmosphere of the Southern people attacking and rising up, under the wise and talented leadership of the Party, the army and people of Hai Lang stood up to fight, attack, and collapse the army and won complete victory.
At exactly 6:00 p.m. on March 19, 1975, Hai Lang District was completely liberated, marking a brilliant historical milestone in the heroic struggle of the army and people of the district. It contributed significantly to the victory of the Tri Thien liberation campaign, culminating in the historic Ho Chi Minh campaign, completely liberating the South and reunifying the country.
For the day when the homeland is completely liberated, the country is independent, free, and the country is reunited, tens of thousands of outstanding children who "died for the Fatherland" will forever remain on this land.

After the war, the infrastructure was devastated, but the Party Committee, government and people of Hai Lang were determined to unite, overcome difficulties, rebuild and develop the economy and society. Currently, the district has 14/14 communes meeting new rural standards, of which 3 communes have achieved advanced new rural standards, Dien Sanh town has been recognized as meeting civilized urban standards. Hai Lang has met 9/9 criteria for new rural districts and has been recognized by the Prime Minister as a district meeting new rural standards, being 1 of 4 districts in Quang Tri province to reach the new rural district finish line. Hai Lang is one of the localities located in the Southeast Economic Zone, currently having the province's driving force projects being implemented such as Quang Tri Industrial Park, My Thuy Port Area; is preparing conditions to upgrade and invest in new sections of National Highway 15D connecting from My Thuy Port to La Lay International Border Gate, which will open up many new development opportunities in the coming time.
As one of the dynamic, creative and potential localities of the province, it is a destination for domestic and foreign investors, meeting all the conditions to become a key area for industrial, commercial and service development of the province in the future.

At the ceremony, Secretary of the Quang Tri Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Long Hai praised the achievements of Hai Lang, and asked the locality to continue promoting the heroic revolutionary tradition, the will to overcome difficulties, self-reliance, self-reliance; the spirit of learning, and exploiting local resources well. After the celebration and receiving the decision to recognize the new rural district, Hai Lang district organized a special art program with the theme "Hai Lang - Pride and Aspiration".
