The Tien Phong Newspaper Marathon is the oldest and most prestigious tournament in the Vietnamese sports community, first held in 1958 in Hanoi. This is a leading tournament, which has been included in the Vietnamese athletics competition system for the past half century, held at the end of March every year. Tien Phong Marathon brings together the best athletes of Vietnamese athletics in medium and long distances to compete for national medals, and is also an opportunity for amateur athletes to compete on the same track with the country's top athletes.
The year 2025 marks many important events for our country: The 95th anniversary of the Party's founding (February 3, 1930 - February 3, 2025); the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2025); the 80th anniversary of the People's Public Security Traditional Day and the 20th anniversary of the National Day for National Security Protection (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025, August 19, 2005 - August 19, 2025); the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025); and the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025) is also the 66th year in the history of organizing the Tien Phong Marathon.
This year, the 66th Tien Phong Marathon (TPM 2025) will be held in Dong Ha, Quang Tri on March 30, 2025 with 4 competition distances: 5km, 10km, 21.1km and 42.195km for professional and amateur athletes at home and abroad. Athletes compete in 2 separate categories with separate award systems for professional and amateur athletes, in which the amateur marathon and half-marathon distances are awarded according to age groups: 16-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60 years old and above. In particular, the Organizing Committee will award the final marathon and half-marathon distances to the best athletes, regardless of whether they are professional or amateur. At Tien Phong Marathon 2025, athletes will experience a unique race course, following in the footsteps of their ancestors in the cause of building, protecting, unifying the country and striving strongly for the future. Quang Tri, which once divided the country, is now a symbol of connecting the country, arousing pride and gratitude to the generations who sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland. The 2025 Tien Phong Newspaper National Marathon in Quang Tri carries a message of gratitude for the past, respect for the present and solidarity towards the future. With the message "Song of Triumph", the joy of victory resounds, marking the moment of national reunification, while arousing the spirit of dedication, enthusiasm and steadfast determination of the Vietnamese generation in the new era. That is a strong source of inspiration in the work of building the country, confidently entering the era of rising, affirming and succeeding.
The Tien Phong Marathon 2025 route will take athletes through beautiful natural landscapes, famous works and historical sites of Quang Tri. In particular, the 42.2km route is built as a story about the formation and development of the country, about the struggle to protect the Fatherland. The history of 30 years of resistance war (1945-1975) will be recreated through images of Uncle Ho and important historical events. On the Marathon route, each runner will run under the national flag, guided by the heroic story of the nation, experiencing and feeling the past through images, sounds and the inspiration from the sacred land, creating unforgettable memories.
