Closing ceremony of the 2024 Vietnam Ethnic Culture Festival in Quang Tri Province

On the evening of December 16th, at the Quang Tri Provincial Cultural and Cinema Center, the organizing committee of the 2024 Vietnam Ethnic Culture Festival (referred to as the festival) held the closing ceremony, summarized the event, and presented awards to individuals and groups with outstanding achievements in organizing and participating in the festival's activities.
 
The closing ceremony was attended by Mr. Hoang Nam, Standing Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee, Deputy Head of the Steering Committee, and Head of the Organizing Committee; Mrs. Nguyen Thi Hai Nhung, Director of the Ethnic Culture Department, Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee; and Mr. Nong Quoc Thanh, Deputy Director of the Department of Cultural Heritage.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the festival, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Hai Nhung, Director of the Ethnic Culture Department of the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, and Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee of the 2024 Vietnam Ethnic Culture Festival, affirmed that the festival was held according to plan, ensuring safety in all aspects. It created an atmosphere of joy and unity, inspiring pride in traditional cultural values, raising awareness, understanding, and a sense of responsibility among the ethnic communities to preserve their cultural heritage. She emphasized that the festival serves as a bridge to strengthen solidarity between localities, art troupes, and folk artists from various provinces. It is an opportunity to promote the cultural identities of ethnic groups, share experiences, and acknowledge the efforts of the Party and State, particularly the artisans (the cultural bearers) who have worked hard to preserve and promote the beautiful cultural identities of the 54 ethnic groups. After this festival, it is hoped that the artisans, performers, and mass athletes will be further motivated to continue the spirit of the festival, return to their communities with additional experience in preserving and promoting their ethnic culture.

In his closing speech at the festival, Mr. Hoang Nam, Standing Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee, and Head of the Organizing Committee, mentioned that despite the unfavorable weather, the activities took place enthusiastically and in line with the festival’s purpose: a celebration of the ethnic groups, a place for exchange, learning, and showcasing the cultural values and essence of the ethnic minorities in the shared cultural heritage of Vietnam. The festival further strengthened the solidarity among the ethnic groups and provided an opportunity to reflect on the precious traditional values of our ancestors, raising awareness of the importance of preserving and promoting these cultural values during the period of development and integration. During their visit to Quang Tri, delegates, artisans, and athletes participated in the festival's activities and also visited historical sites and scenic landmarks. It is hoped that the historical sites, village names, mountains, and rivers of Quang Tri left a deep impression and will be widely spread so that Quang Tri becomes more well-known.
The Organizing Committee of the 2024 Vietnam Ethnic Culture Festival awarded numerous prizes to groups based on their activities. In the folk art and cultural performance category, 22 first prizes, 23 second prizes, and 19 third prizes were awarded. For traditional ethnic costumes, 5 first prizes, 6 second prizes, and 5 third prizes were given. In the category of traditional festival rituals and cultural practices, 5 first prizes, 6 second prizes, and 5 third prizes were awarded. For the display, preparation, and introduction of traditional ethnic cuisine, 5 first prizes, 6 second prizes, and 2 third prizes were given. In the category of promoting and introducing local traditional culture, 5 first prizes, 6 second prizes, and 4 third prizes were awarded. In tourism activities, 5 first prizes, 6 second prizes, and 2 third prizes were granted. For sports activities, the Organizing Committee awarded a first-place team prize to the Dak Lak delegation, along with 3 second prizes, 5 third prizes, and 3 consolation prizes.

At the closing ceremony, delegates and audiences enjoyed spectacular performances selected from the participating units. These performances not only showcased the unique cultural identities of different regions but also honored the beautiful traditional values, contributing to the resounding success of this year's Vietnam Ethnic Culture Festival.

On this occasion, the Minister of the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism awarded Certificates of Merit to 22 groups and 7 individuals for their outstanding achievements in organizing the 2024 Vietnam Ethnic Culture Festival.
On December 16, 2024, the Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee also decided to award Certificates of Merit from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee to 5 groups and 7 individuals for their outstanding contributions to the organization of the festival.
