Quang Tri participated in the Lao-Vietnam Trade and Investment Promotion Conference 2024 in Savannakhet.

On the morning of April 4, 2023, in Savannakhet, Laos, the Ho Chi Minh City Investment, Trade, and Tourism Promotion Center, in coordination with the Vietnamese Consulate General in Savannakhet, organized the 2024 Lao-Vietnam Trade and Investment Promotion Conference.

This is one of the activities in the series of Ho Chi Minh City and Friendly Provinces Exhibition programs in Savannakhet from April 3-7, 2024.
Attending the conference from the Lao People's Democratic Republic were Mr. Sen Sac Su Li Sac, Standing Committee Member and Vice Governor of Savannakhet Province, along with leaders from Vientiane Capital, Houaphanh, Attapeu, Bolikhamsai, Khammouane, and the leadership of various departments in Savannakhet. From Vietnam, Mr. Ha Phuoc Thang, City Party Member and Vice Head of the Ho Chi Minh City National Assembly Delegation, along with representatives from provinces such as Thaa Thien Hue, Đa Nang, Quang Tri, Quang Binh, and delegates from enterprises and investors from both countries.

The 2024 Lao-Vietnam Trade and Investment Promotion Conference in Savannakhet was held to promote and introduce the potential, strengths, investment environment, trade, tourism, and development direction of Ho Chi Minh City, as well as other provinces and cities interested in promoting trade and investment with Laos. Additionally, the conference aimed to support and create opportunities for enterprises in Ho Chi Minh City and other Vietnamese provinces to explore and introduce investment and business cooperation needs in the fields of investment, trade, and tourism, enhancing international cooperation and exchanging investment policies between the two countries.

In his welcoming speech at the conference, Mr. Sen Sac Sụ Li Sac, Standing Committee Member and Vice Governor of Savannakhet Province, stated, "This Trade and Investment Promotion Conference is of great significance in enhancing the potential and strengths of the provinces of Laos and Ho Chi Minh City, as well as other provinces and cities of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. It also serves as a catalyst for businesses in Ho Chi Minh City and Vietnamese provinces to conduct further research and seek investment and cooperation opportunities with Lao businesses. With the long-standing friendship between the Lao and Vietnamese people, we will continue to cooperate and support each other based on our special friendship, unity, and mutually beneficial cooperation."

Mr. Ha  Phuoc Thang, City Party Member and Vice Head of the Ho Chi Minh City National Assembly Delegation, delivered a speech.

At the conference, Mr. Ha  Phuoc Thang, City Party Member and Vice Head of the Ho Chi Minh City National Assembly Delegation, praised the over 60 years of cooperation between the two countries. This strong political and emotional relationship has laid a solid foundation for economic cooperation activities. Currently, Laos is the largest foreign investment market for Vietnamese businesses, with 245 projects totaling $5.5 billion in registered capital, ranking third among countries investing in Laos. Vietnamese investment projects are present in almost all regions of Laos, covering various fields. Many projects have been operational and effective, contributing significantly to Laos' socio-economic development, earning recognition and high praise from the government. The 2024 Vietnam-Laos Trade and Investment Promotion Conference today is an important event that the Vietnamese government, Ho Chi Minh City, and other Vietnamese provinces aim to organize to further strengthen the relationship between Vietnam and Laos.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Hung, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Quang Tri Province, delivered a speech at the conference.
 
At this conference, Quảng Trị Province was represented by Mr. Nguyen Huu Hung, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade. In his speech, Mr. Hung expressed his pleasure in witnessing the significant achievements of the Party and government of both provinces in recent times. During the conference, Quang Tri highlighted its potential, advantages, incentives, and investment attraction policies for domestic and international businesses, especially with Laos. Mr. Hung also outlined several solutions to strengthen and enhance trade and investment cooperation with Savannakhet Province in particular and Laos in general. Notably, in the near future, the two provinces, Quang Tri and Savannakhet, will continue to work closely together to officially establish the Lao Bao-Densavan Cross-Border Economic and Trade Zone, creating a more favorable foundation and conditions for cooperation and development between the two provinces.

The signature products of various provinces and cities were displayed at the conference. 
 
On the sidelines of the conference, there were activities showcasing and promoting the signature products of various localities. Quang Tri Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Agency, in collaboration with relevant units, met with and engaged Lao investors to promote and introduce Quang Tri's investment policies and its unique products.
