From early morning on the day of the festival (August 31), all roads leading to Tram Tra Loc were crowded with people. The festival atmosphere became more bustling when people directly participated in fishing. After a drum beat from the village chief, hundreds of people rushed into the lake that had been drained from the previous days to catch fish.
According to regulations, people participating in fishing at the festival are only allowed to use manual tools; absolutely not allowed to use electric shocks and destructive tools to protect aquatic resources for the festival in the following years. Fishing with traditional rudimentary tools not only creates a memorable experience for those who directly participate but also brings excitement to viewers.
Therefore, every time the " Breaking swamp " festival takes place, it attracts thousands of tourists. The festival has been around for over 300 years. This is considered a purely agricultural festival for farmers who work hard all year round after harvesting the summer-autumn rice crop. People in Tra Loc believe that this is a gift from heaven and earth, so after a year of hard work, farmers can bring a little bit of heaven and earth’s blessings to themselves for good luck in the year.
Adding more attraction to the “green lung” of Tra Loc
Tra Loc is a natural forest, in the center of which there is a large lake that has existed for hundreds of years, preserved by local people for generations.
Here is the Tra Loc Cham tower relic, which was recognized by the People's Committee of Quang Tri province as a provincial historical relic in 2003. Tram Tra Loc Eco-Tourism Area has an area of 100 hectares, of which the lake area is 10 hectares. On August 30, 2024, the People's Committee of Quang Tri province issued a decision to recognize Tra Loc as a community eco-tourism site.
With the investment attention of the province and Hai Lang district, up to now, basic construction works and traffic systems in Tram Tra Loc Eco-Tourism Area; traffic connecting this tourist area with other places have been invested in and built, gradually meeting the needs of travel and tourism services. Through the process of construction and development, Tram Tra Loc Eco-Tourism Area has been increasingly expanded, with more services, becoming a useful destination for visitors from near and far during the holidays.
Coming to Tram Tra Loc, visitors can immerse themselves in the poetic and lyrical natural scenery, enjoy and breathe the fresh, cool air of the "green lung" in the middle of the white sand, mixed with the warm scent of lotus and rice, the love of the countryside. According to Mr. Dieu, the festival was successful with a united, joyful, useful and healthy atmosphere. The work of ensuring security, order and traffic safety was well ensured and created a good impression in the hearts of visitors.
