On behalf of Quang Tri, the delegates attending the meeting consisted of Mr. Le Quang Tung – Provincial Party secretary, Mr. Vo Van Hung – Chairman of Quang Tri PPC and representatives Quang Tri PPC’s Office and departments, boards and in the province.
Eni Vietnam B.V. (Italy) is an Italian energy group, founded in 1953, headquartered in Rome. The Group operates in 66 countries and has 31,321 specialists (2019), of which 11,478 are specialized in mining and production. The total asset value of Eni Energy Company has so far reached over 4 billion Euro, has the largest oil and gas production projects in the world. In 2019, Eni sold 73.07 billion m3 of natural gas. The Energy Company has been operating in Vietnam since 1965. Up to now, Eni has operated in several offshore exploration blocks with a total area of more than 30,000m2.
In 2019, Eni Vietnam B.V. conducted a survey and exploration of Ken Bau field (Block 114) on the continental shelf of Viet Nam, about 65 km from Quang Tri province and discovered reserves of 7-9 trillion cubic feet of natural gas (Tcf) in place and between 400 and 500 million barrels of condensate. This result of oil and gas reserve estimation is a historical discovery of Vietnam's oil and gas industry. With this result, Eni Vietnam and its partners are conducting the overall evaluation of the Ken Bau field in the following years, studying the plan to supply natural gas and develop energy projects in Viet Nam.

At the meeting, Chairman of Quang Tri PPC Vo Van Hung introduced general information about potentials, opportunities for investment cooperation, development orientation of Quang Tri province in the period of 2021-2025, vision to 2030. At the same time, the Chairman also expressed his wish to cooperate with Eni Group in the near future.

On behalf of Eni Group's leaders, Mr. Luca Dragonetti - Managing Director of Eni Vietnam B.V. highly appreciated the leadership of Quang Tri PPC showing strong commitment and initiative, early approach in promotion work, call for investment cooperation. Eni Vietnam is currently in the early stages of valuing the Ken Bau mine's reserves, but is promoting related technical work so that it can soon be put into operation in the period 2024-2025. The representative of Eni Vietnam's leadership said that, on the basis of support from the Central Government, the advantages of natural conditions, planning and infrastructure conditions have been prepared, as well as the need to use Using gas in Quang Tri and the region, Quang Tri Southeast Economic Zone, Quang Tri has favorable conditions as a landing place for the Ken Bau gas field, contributing to helping Quang Tri become a regional energy center in 2030.

Speaking at the meeting, the Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Le Quang Tung affirmed that although Quang Tri is currently facing many difficulties and the socio-economic infrastructure is still limited, the Province commits to always be ready to support and cooperate in all fields and create the best conditions for domestic and foreign investors to come to survey research and investment in Quang Tri with its potentials and advantages and the support of the Government and central ministries. Especially, with Eni Vietnam B.V., Quang Tri will always ready to cooperate and create all conditions for investment cooperation.

After the meeting, the delegation of Eni Vietnam B.V. will conduct a field survey, learn about the Southeast Quang Tri economic zone, the plan to deploy the My Thuy seaport project, economic development policies of the province; learn about communities and sustainable development projects, in line with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) such as afforestation, forest conservation, greenhouse gas reduction (REDD+ project) and visit Khe Sanh historical site./.
