The tourism triangle comprising Cua Tung – Cua Viet – Con Co, known for its beautiful beaches, picturesque landscapes, diverse ecosystems, and convenient transportation, is gradually asserting its position on the tourism map and contributing to the accelerated development of tourism in Quang Tri Province.

Attractive Destinations for Visitors

Cua Tung Beach was formed by unique geological conditions with two rocky headlands stretching into the sea—Mui Si and Mui Lay—creating a sheltered bay. The beach gently slopes on a layer of red basalt soil, covered with fine white sand and ancient rows of casuarina trees. Thanks to these natural features, Cua Tung boasts fresh air and a poetic landscape, earning it the title “Queen of Beaches.” The area is also famous for its variety of fresh seafood with distinctive coastal flavors. For generations, Cua Tung has remained an appealing destination for visitors.
Cua Viet Beach, stretching about 10 kilometers, lies adjacent to Cua Tung Beach and enjoys convenient connections to Ru Linh ecosystem and Vinh Moc tunnel. The beach features a long coastline with clear, shallow waters and smooth white sand, framed by endless rows of casuarina trees. Together with its diverse and attractive cuisine, these features serve as a major advantage in attracting a large number of tourists.
As for Con Co, this special island is not only known as a heroic island during wartime but also admired for its pristine natural scenery and one of the richest marine ecosystems in Vietnam. From Cua Tung or Cua Viet, visitors can take a boat and reach Con Co Island after about an hour’s journey. Often described as a “raw gem” in the East Sea, the island captivates travelers with its untouched beauty and offers exciting opportunities for exploration.

Strengthening Investment and Regional Linkages

To promote the development of the Cua Tung – Cua Viet – Con Co tourism triangle, Quảng Trị Province has introduced numerous practical and effective policies and solutions in recent years. Particular attention has been given to planning and mobilizing various financial resources from the state budget and private enterprises to strengthen coastal and island infrastructure in support of tourism development while ensuring national defense and security. At the same time, efforts have been intensified to promote investment, highlight tourism potential and advantages, and develop interconnected tour routes.
It can be seen that with its distinctive characteristics and supportive policies from both provincial and central authorities, the Cua Tung – Cua Viet – Con Co area possesses significant potential and advantages for tourism development—especially high-end coastal and island resort tourism, as well as cultural and historical tourism in Quảng Trị and the North Central region. The tourism triangle also gains a strategic advantage by expanding connections with localities along the EWEC, which links Vietnam with Laos, Thailand, and Myanmar.

Enhancing Investment and Cooperation

The Cua Tung – Cua Viet – Con Co area has been included by the Prime Minister in the list of potential locations for developing a national tourism zone for the period 2021–2030, with a vision to 2045. To help this tourism triangle truly “take off” and become a driving force for local tourism development, authorities are implementing a range of coordinated measures.
These include strengthening governance and management in tourism, implementing long-term strategies and master plans for coastal and island tourism development based on existing advantages, and mobilizing resources to improve coastal infrastructure. At the same time, favorable and equal conditions are being created for all economic sectors to invest in infrastructure and tourism services along the coastal routes linking Cua Viet – Cua Tung, Cua Tung – Vinh Moc, and Con Co Island.

Authorities are also enhancing the monitoring and management of tourism investment projects currently under implementation, taking firm action against projects that have been delayed for many years without progress. In addition, they are working to promptly address any difficulties or obstacles faced by investors during project implementation.
Improving the appraisal process for coastal tourism investment projects is another key priority, with a focus on selecting enterprises that possess strong financial capacity, experience, and genuine commitment. Priority will be given to major projects capable of driving development and connecting tourism service chains within the Cua Tung – Cua Viet – Con Co triangle.
Close cooperation is also being strengthened with localities and businesses both within and outside the province, including Ha Noi, Quang Ninh, Ninh Binh, Hue, Đa Nang, Khanh Hoa, and Ho Chi Minh city, in order to develop new and attractive tour routes.
According to Mr. Lê Minh Tuấn, achieving these goals requires strong cooperation among stakeholders, including collaboration to enhance product quality, develop new tourism products, and conduct targeted tourism promotion aimed at specific market segments and audiences. This approach is especially important as new tourism trends and demands continue to emerge.
“The Cua Tung – Cua Viet – Con Co tourism triangle plays a vital role in leading the development of the province’s tourism economy. Increased investment in this coastal tourism area will create new momentum for achieving socio-economic development goals, strengthening national defense and security, and meeting the requirements for rapid and sustainable development of the locality,” Mr. Tuấn emphasized.
