The event not only marked the beginning of a new fishing season but also demonstrated the strong determination of local authorities and people in promoting the marine economy, linking fisheries exploitation with service and tourism development, aiming toward sustainable growth.
Affirming the Strength of the Marine Economy
In recent years, the fishing sector in Cua Viet Commune has shown clear progress in a modern and sustainable direction. The commune currently has 482 fishing vessels with a total capacity of over 91,000 CV, creating jobs for more than 1,100 direct workers. In 2025, the total catch exceeded 10,216 tons, surpassing the planned target, affirming the effectiveness of shifting toward offshore fishing.
Not limited to fishing activities, fisheries logistics, seafood purchasing, and processing services have also developed strongly, with more than 100 processing facilities, contributing to increasing product value and providing stable livelihoods for local residents.

A Vibrant 2026 Coastal Tourism Season
Alongside fisheries, Cua Viet Commune is emerging as an attractive coastal tourism destination of the province. With a coastline of more than 7.6 kilometers, tourism infrastructure has been gradually invested in a synchronized manner, and public beaches are becoming increasingly modern and well-developed.
During the Lunar New Year 2026, the commune welcomed over 5,000 visitors, including more than 1,000 overnight stays, and attracted around 10,000 visitors to Cua Viet Beach for sightseeing and photography, especially at the horse mascot installation.
Tourism services, cuisine, and entertainment activities along the coast continue to expand, closely associated with fresh local seafood, offering distinctive and high-quality experiences that increasingly meet the diverse demands of visitors.
Towards Sustainable Development
At the ceremony, local leaders called on fishermen to continue promoting solidarity, enhance the application of science and technology in fishing and seafood preservation, and strictly comply with regulations against illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing, while protecting marine resources and national sovereignty.
At the same time, tourism service providers are encouraged to improve service quality, diversify products, and build an image of a safe, friendly, and attractive destination.
