In order to create a distinctive cultural and tourism space while promoting trade, services, and tourism as well as showcasing the image of the border region, the People’s Committee of Lao Bảo Commune will organize the Nguyễn Huệ Walking Street and the Lao Bảo Border Market Fair during the Lunar New Year 2026 celebrations. The event is expected to become a cultural and tourism highlight at the beginning of the year, contributing to the gradual development of unique tourism and commercial products in the Lao Bảo border area while fostering cultural exchange, trade activities, and the preservation and promotion of the cultural identities of communities on both sides of the Việt Nam–Laos border.
Nguyễn Huệ Walking Street will be organized along Nguyễn Huệ Street in Lao Bảo Commune, stretching approximately 430 meters from the area opposite the Office of the Provincial Economic Zone Management Board to the intersection with Lê Quý Đôn Street. The walking street is scheduled to operate from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, January 30–31, 2026. With more than 60 booths, the walking street will not only provide spaces for shopping and culinary experiences but will also host cultural exchanges, artistic performances, street entertainment activities, traditional games, check-in photo areas, and exhibitions promoting OCOP products and traditional handicrafts from Lao Bảo, neighboring localities, and Laos. The space will be arranged scientifically with separate areas for specialty product displays and sales, Vietnamese–Lao culinary stalls, artistic performances, and photo spots, along with parking areas and public sanitation facilities to ensure convenience and safety for visitors.
Special attention will be given to ensuring security, traffic safety, environmental sanitation, and food safety. The organizing committee will arrange security and medical checkpoints, implement appropriate traffic management, and ensure timely waste collection to create a safe, civilized, and friendly environment for both residents and visitors.
The organization of Nguyễn Huệ Walking Street and the Lao Bảo Border Market Fair is expected not only to create a joyful and vibrant atmosphere during the traditional Lunar New Year but also to serve as an opportunity to promote the people, culture, and tourism and commercial potential of Lao Bảo to visitors from both within Vietnam and abroad.
