The Prime Minister signed the Decision No. 42/2015/QD-TTg dated 16th September 2015 on establishment of Quang Tri Southeast Economic Zone aiming to develop the province’s remarkable advantages. It is located in the southeast of Quang Tri province, including 17 towns and communes of three coastal districts: Hai Lang, Trieu Phong and Gio Linh, covering an area of 23,792 ha with the population of 77,000. To meet investment waves into the Southeast Economic Zone, the province has finished a master plan of the Central Area with 11,469 hectare with focus on calling for driven-force investment projects such as: My Thuy seaport, infrastructure of Southeast Economic Zone, power center, gas exploitation in the offshore of Quang Tri province, etc.
Southeast Economic Zone includes master-planned 06 functional areas: (i) Industrial Zones; (ii) Administrative Area; (iii) Residential Area; (iv) Tourist Area; (v) Service Area; (vi) My Thuy Deep-water Seaport Area.
Southeast Economic Zone has favourable natural conditions and geo-economic location. It is a general and multi-functional economic zone; a breakthrough and important main point investment of Quang Tri province as well as development hub of Central region. The economic zone will serve as an international trade center; center for processing industry of agro-forestry-aquatic products, construction materials and electricity production, tourism, trade - service, seaport of the Central region, etc.
